Hey, all.
If you've read the novels, you know that the Anti-Pope's reality was originally just a medieval realm of religious zealots, maintained a 13th century holy kingdom. Only when Hach Mara-Two attached her Kadandra-memory plate to Jean Malreaux did the reality become a futuristic cyberpunk-type realm.
Does anyone have any thoughts about doing away with the transition and just setting the Cyberpapacy up as a super-tech from the beginning? It is much less confusing and requires much less GM intrusion to get to happen. (Alternatively, you can just rule that an NPC accomplishes this, but where's the fun in letting NPCs do cool things that you just tell the PCs about later?)
I assume the cyberware and cool tech would be restricted to the Church only, and possession of anything more complicated than a datajack and a holonet TV would be grounds for persecution by the Church Police. Thus, in many ways, it's still a medieval culture, but the rulers are mighty.
Thoughts?
